Rock cover band Piston Broke play live at O'Donoghue's in Wakefield, playing everything from AC/DC to Thin Lizzy.

Matt Johnson predominantly performs for a small group in Harry's Bar, with a singer friend of his who wasn't too bad. Apart from the f1.2 85mm pics, Neal popped round with his f1.8 28mm lens again and the battery grip.

Rock cover band Full Tilt play at O'Donoghue's pub in Wakefield - the only band I've seen to include use of a Black & Decker drill in their set!

Paleday performed as part of FeedMeMusic.co.uk's "Messin' Up The Weekend" event at London's Astoria 2 venue in Soho. They performed a 30-minute set including the new song 'Flirty' to a packed crowd who loved every moment. Great disco from one of the best bands on the gay scene.

As part of FeedMeMusic.co.uk's "Messin' Up The Weekend" showcase night, 15-piece band Royal Showdown took to the stage with performers including a string quartet and a brass section. Good tunes reminiscent of Alphabeat and Jamiroquai.

Prior to the Paleday gig at London's Astoria 2, there was the soundcheck. Lots of waiting around, very little light so it was a good opportunity to see what the f1.2 85mm lens could handle: the result was a very moody set of images but shot mostly at f1.2 ISO100 with a 1/60 shutter speed, taken right up until the call to go on-stage at around 8pm.

American man-with-a-guitar Doug (aka The Fabulous Doug) gave me an opportunity to try the f2.8 lens in a gig atmosphere. The results aren't very good, but at least I had a pint and a nice chat.

Leeds band Avarice supported by The Deadline Hopefuls, at The Library pub up Woodhouse Lane in Leeds. The lighting was really very poor, therefore many of these are in black+white with filtering to give a grainy 'analogue' feel.

Fifteen years since I'd last seen the B-52's, and this time they were on the heels of their new album 'Funplex'. I did myself some serious damage dancing in a sound that was a lot more 'raw' than the previous visit - and if I look as good as Keith Strickland when I get to that age I'll be very happy indeed.

An afternoon barbeque with family and friends at Wrenthorpe, followed by drunken debauchery at O'Donoghue's where 'Left Hand Drive' were playing. Lots of photos from various different people due to the camera changing hands a lot

Singer/songwriter Antonio Lulic playing live at Harry's Bar in Wakefield. He was a little late due to train trouble so Ryan covered for him, but once Antonio arrived it was well worth the wait. Note: Lighting is pretty poor in Harry's so many of these are B&W and sometimes quite grainy - but I think that adds to it!

Principally a Marc Bolan/T-Rex tribute band but with other 70s hits performed well, I took along the 30D and photographed this band at O'Donoghues in Wakefield. Nice red feather boa there!

Experimental electronic rock band Vessels, supported by some other local bands at Escobar in Wakefield.

Sambuca-swilling Stacey turned up for her own beers, with some new friends too. 'Grumpy Old Men' were playing O'Donoghue's so there's some photos of them too.

More pics of the kittens, Ellie and Nicky playing Guitar Hero III, and a few shots from O'Donoghues where Joel was working with the laptop later in the day (and privy to the new Shrood EP!).

Terry was on form playing some excellent blues! It was one of *those* nights including an incident with a harmonium and a logical analysis of Stacey's breasts. Ow, my head!

Our friends Ryan and Alice were playing at O'Donoghues for "Not St Patrick's Day". Landlords Janet and Brian were most welcoming, and Meg was working the bar - just like old times Nicky's on the 400D, Joel's on the G9.

Neil's last day at Fotopic, which called for a celebration. Luckily Shrood were playing at O'Donoghue's which gave us a wonderful excuse to go and have some drinks while listening to the lads play some ace music. With the lighting in ODs being a bit cack, I took most of the band pics in B+W again.

A surprise birthday party for Ryan was bound to involve a lot of music - we were treat to Peculiar Blue, a harpist friend, and of course Dr Blue. Myself and Nicky were there until about 10:30pm when they still hadn't found some drumsticks but other than that it was fab! Several of these pics are in black+white due to the poor light on the makeshift stage at one end of the room.

Trying out some gig photography and low-light stuff using my newly-acquired Canon EOS 30D, a trip to O'Donoghues was warranted, although there's some bad saturation here because I'm still trying to get used to the different balance (from the 10D). By complete accident the current Obvious Pseudonym lineup were all there...

From the remains of Dr Blue came ZZ Eliminator representing the Live and Gigging promoter slot. Beards, pimp coats, and some excellent covers!

Oh yeah baby, it's the hard rock revolution. SubNova on the main stage as the sun shone and we all drank beer. Ben in particular loved them.

I don't think we've had hip-hop at Clarence before, so this was a bit of a change from 'Don't Talk To Strangers'. They'd brought a singer and a set of decks too.

Bringing the classic blues rock covers into the beer tent was the popular Welsh T, who despite tripping the power breakers twice gave a great performance.

Sunday morning was taken up with running some promo shots from the minilab, and showing Nairn how it all worked - well, once the bugger had got up to temperature, anyway.

To finish off the first day’s events the sultans of sleaze Zodiac Mindwarp and The Love Reaction were back and set to rock us back to the 80’s and beyond! Classic debauched rock, smoke machines and everything.

A slight pause as the police requested that the tents be moved down owing to a bit of a chav fight going on in the woods behind the hill - not fun, especially when the buggers came back at 4am the following morning for more.

A bit of funk rock from the ever popular Eris who fill another of the promoter slots on behalf of WTP Music - most of them were also stewarding the event (those flourescent jackets aren't just a stage outfit!).

By this time Neil had taken to the stage as well to try and get the lights working, and oh my goodness - the Innocent OJs returned for their first gig in years! One of Wakefield's leading bands, we took photos of this lot at a previous Clarence and they were no less entertaining.

Armed with an electronic piano/organ and a pile of samples, Jason Wakefield provided 45 minutes of original classical prog-rock fusion to the bar queue in the beer tent.
