A bit of a morning of it really, owing to a sequence of power outages at Kingston Comms' facility in Leeds - the car park's usually empty! Then I worked out why my Macbook kept shutting itself down - the ruddy battery is faulty.

While bored and waiting for stuff to copy, I took some pics of servers. Marvel at the servers. Come on, marvel. Oh suit yourself.

I hate datacentres - I think I've mentioned this before. Me and Neil went to install a new box for Fotopic gallery services in GS1, and do a bit of fettling to increase resilience and speed of recovery in out-of-hours outages. Then we went for KFC on the way back home. Mmmmm, KFC.

A quick trip to London to fit some more 1U servers in to handle Fotopic's counters and content - great Easter Weekend no-fun in Global Switch in Docklands.

One of the fileservers was acting funny so we moved the RAID array to another box. Mmm, 3ware cards are ace.

We upgraded Fotopic's image server cluster with a pile of new Flexiserv FSPserv units. Shiny!

I thought RAID was supposed to stop this sort of thing? Grr.

We finally got round to moving the Fotopic system out of Mailbox, and into Claranet's suite at GlobalSwitch1 in Docklands. Up at 4:30am, pulling servers out at 6am, stuffing them in racks at 8am. Finally got home at 1am the following morning, eurgh.

Bouncing back and forwards around London, from Telecity Docklands through to Infosec at Olympia (which actually cost me some money this year!), and finally to Telehouse Metro to stick some RAM in a database server and test a few things. Tiring day.

A hellish day, but we managed to install some new servers and some Cisco kit in Telehouse Metro EC2.

There\'s nothing like a huge pile of tapas at The Rock to sort out the hunger of hauling servers around London...

I seem to find myself either in Telehouse, or calling their engineers, quite frequently at the moment. While I was there this time I tried some close-ups of labels and stuff.
