One of those 'falling into the pub' evenings, where Enid turned up for a few drinks and ended up stumbling out around 1am on a school-night. Oops.

Ellie at Wakefield Rhubarb Festival (17 images)
A morning in Wakefield, where Ellie had her first fun with a digital SLR (my old Canon 30D) - she wasn't half bad either! Then we explored a bit, and Ellie made a badge, a rhubarb butterfly, and had her face painted in the market hall.

The Kiara Elles at Brudenell Social Club, Leeds (15 images)
The Kiara Elles performed at Brudenell Social Club, post-punk electro/indie rock fronted by Chiara Lucchini. A visceral live howl and another pop frenzy. "One of those out-of-nowhere indie records that has the man in the street singing along to a guitar riff. Odio will go blog > indie disco > charts > car advert in a matter of months. Enjoy it while you can bear it."

Eureka Machines at Brudenell Social Club, Leeds (63 images)
Eureka Machines are the coming together of great forces and better tunes, proving that pop and independence are not mutually exclusive... and neither are big tunes and naughty guitars. "Imagine if the Beatles and the Beach Boys met Motorhead, jammed with the Cardiacs and created the best band you’ve never heard. Until now."

Delorean Drivers at Brudenell Social Club, Leeds (47 images)
DeLorean Drivers are Daz from Xi's new band, a nine-piece featuring various chaps from the aforementioned Xi, and Duncan with the big hair who I never see out any more, among others. They sound like a more rock Arcade Fire. Totally pop though, and very cool.

After almost 15 years, staff from Painthorpe House Golf & Country Club met up once more for a drink in The Hop, Wakefield. The numbers were far less than the 30 or so who'd promised to come but we still had enough folks to catch up on old times and get thoroughly mortal together.

Snow Day II in Wrenthorpe (17 images)
The snow continued overnight, and Joel attempted to get to work - returning two hours later after a very cold foray to Outwood station. The approach to the M1 was chockablock and school was closed (again) - still, at least it had stopped snowing by mid-morning.

Snow Day I in Wrenthorpe (20 images)
The snow came, and blocked off Wrenthorpe Road. The school closed, neither of us could get to work, the buses and trains stopped running - so Joel worked from home and Nicky built a snowman with the kids followed by doing jigsaws in front of the fire.

We braved the snow and ice across the Pennines to the MEN Arena in Manchester, to see the Pet Shop Boys on their 'Pandemonium' tour supported by Bernard Sumner's latest band 'Bad Lieutenant'. Despite the inclement weather the arena was chock-full of PSB fans and we weren't disappointed with a show which climaxed in dancing Christmas trees and snow - yay!

Christmas Shopping Trip to Leeds (11 images)
With Christmas on its way we bit the bullet and took the train into Leeds - it wasn't as hellish as we'd first feared, and enjoyed the day finishing with a latte in Leeds railway station while awaiting the train home. I'm sure the shop assistants in Lush aren't meant to recognise you either...
