We were gigging at Escobar and had a couple of drinks before the show, then met all our friends at The Hop for yet more beers until the small hours. Joel had the fish-eye lens which made for some comedy shots.

Fun With The Canon 15mm Fisheye (14 images)
The fisheye lens which I got with my Calumet voucher win arrived, so lots of messing around was called for. I think I need to do more with it than just make grotesques tho

Painthorpe Country Club Staff Reunion, Wakefield (23 images)
After almost 15 years, staff from Painthorpe House Golf & Country Club met up once more for a drink in The Hop, Wakefield. The numbers were far less than the 30 or so who'd promised to come but we still had enough folks to catch up on old times and get thoroughly mortal together.

Snow Day II in Wrenthorpe (17 images)
The snow continued overnight, and Joel attempted to get to work - returning two hours later after a very cold foray to Outwood station. The approach to the M1 was chockablock and school was closed (again) - still, at least it had stopped snowing by mid-morning.

Tue 5 Jan 10
Snow Day I in Wrenthorpe (20 images)
The snow came, and blocked off Wrenthorpe Road. The school closed, neither of us could get to work, the buses and trains stopped running - so Joel worked from home and Nicky built a snowman with the kids followed by doing jigsaws in front of the fire.

Pet Shop Boys at MEN Arena, Manchester (25 images)
We braved the snow and ice across the Pennines to the MEN Arena in Manchester, to see the Pet Shop Boys on their 'Pandemonium' tour supported by Bernard Sumner's latest band 'Bad Lieutenant'. Despite the inclement weather the arena was chock-full of PSB fans and we weren't disappointed with a show which climaxed in dancing Christmas trees and snow - yay!

Me and Si propped the bar up at The Hop from about 8:15pm thru to 2am, and were befriended by a mad woman called Ann. It wasn't so much carnage as a slow decline...

Wakefield Music Collective continued their programme of events at Clarence Park Bandstand with a Christmas concert from Barnsley Metropolitan Band. Christmas Shopping Trip to Leeds (11 images)
With Christmas on its way we bit the bullet and took the train into Leeds - it wasn't as hellish as we'd first feared, and enjoyed the day finishing with a latte in Leeds railway station while awaiting the train home. I'm sure the shop assistants in Lush aren't meant to recognise you either...

Wrenthorpe Primary School Christmas Show (83 images)
Ben's school Christmas play was 'The Magic Box' and he had a role as one of two narrators (dressed inexplicably as Robin Hood) with lots of words to read from memory! This was a really good production, most of the children got 'principle' parts and were dressed up - the Foundation stage were stars as well of course.

Putting Up The Christmas Tree (15 images)
It's that time of year again, when we trim the Christmas tree and try to keep the cats from shredding the tinsel. I think this is the first year the act of decorating the house hasn't descended into a family argument either...!

Obvious Pseudonym Photoshoot in Leeds (14 images)
In preparation for some PR work our old chum Neal Lewis directed a photoshoot of the band at his studio in Leeds - quite a bizarre experience monkeying around in front of the camera for a change, with several outfit changes and a general hamming-up of our onstage personas. A properly enjoyable evening with a true professional

Obvious Pseudonym at Escobar... And The Hop, Wakefield (14 images)
We opened an 'Unsigned Band' night at Escobar in Wakefield with a 40-minute set - a bit of an odd gig because we were opening for two rock bands! Following that, the band wandered down to The Hop where were performed two acoustic numbers for the remains of the Open Mic contingent. Ace!

I finally bit the bullet and went to a Flickr strobist shoot run by my old friend Neal Lewis, where I got the opportunity to try some off-body flash portrait work in the extremely windy climes of Whitehall Waterfront in Leeds. Me, Debs and Dafydd took it in turns to act as model, fiddling with softboxes, gels and directional light.
